Since 1998, the area around the Ložnica River with its flooding area has been protected by the decree of the Municipality of Žalec as a monument of national importance.
The area around the Ložnica River is one of the rare preserved areas in the Lower Savinja Valley, which have not been altered by intensive farming. Ložnica meanders in its own natural current and occasionally floods the surrounding meadows.
This area comprises hedges, lines of bushes and trees that divide different lots from each other. The remnants of lowland forests are visible with a large percentage of pedunculate oak.
The most interesting and important vegetation in the area around the Ložnica River is correlated to the humid soil. The numerous loud and diverse birds that live there attract our attention all year round.
